The Counsel to the Inspector General reports directly to the Inspector General and is part of the OIG senior leadership team. The Counsel is responsible for advising the Inspector General and OIG staff on laws, regulations and policies that govern OIG’s authorities and responsibilities. The Counsel provides legal guidance on all aspects of OIG’s mission including audits, investigations, and special projects. The Counsel also advises on legal matters relating to OIG’s internal business operations. The Counsel is independent of Metro’s Office of General Counsel.
